 This November “The Coach” will celebrate his 80th birthday. Bill Squires has dedicated his life to running and coaching. It’s been quite a journey…from the early competitive days at Arlington HS to Notre Dame and later with the BAA. Experiences that set the foundation for his legendary coaching career…  innovative and unconventional… successful at every level from Wakefield HS, Boston State/UMass Boston, BAA, Greater Boston Track Club, and the many other athletes who were beneficiaries of his infamous workouts memorialized on  napkins, used envelopes or beer coasters.  Not only are we celebrating Coach’s birthday, but we have establshed a charitable initiative in his name.

The Mission…

“Run…RunSmart "is an opportunity fund designed around Coach Bill Squires lifelong commitment to running, coaching and teaching.   Run…RunSmart will provide resources to young runners with economic challenges to pursue athletic and academic careers. Coach Squires has inspired a generation of young people to become successful runners and valued contributors to their community…the legacy and commitment continues.

This event promises to be a fun afternoon as there will be a luncheon buffet/cash bar along with auction items available to bid on to help fund Run…RunSmart.
